 The gymnasium and adjoining Chapel were built in 1919 and named in honor of S. Elizabeth Hatten long time professor of languages at Union Christian College. Before the gym was built the college basketball team played in the basement of College Hall with its 12 foot ceilings and posts every 15 feet.
